The Final Leg
Issue #139
Good morning, folks!
U.S. equities continue to notch fresh all-time highs, while the crypto market is pulling back, with most altcoins experiencing notable corrections over the past few days. Markets are adjusting to the evolving landscape around tariffs — a shift many have acknowledged — while others appear to be in wait-and-see mode.
On the geopolitical front, Trump has announced that new sanctions on Russia will be imposed if there’s no progress on a peace agreement within the next ten days.
In terms of economic data, the ECB held rates steady last week, as expected. Meanwhile, manufacturing PMIs in Europe came in softer than forecast, particularly in the UK and Germany. Today, the Fed is widely expected to keep rates unchanged, followed by the usual press conference. Tomorrow, the Bank of Japan is also expected to hold steady, while U.S. personal spending is forecast to bounce back from last month’s contraction.
Looking ahead to Friday, we’ll get the latest Non-Farm Payrolls and U.S. unemployment data. Both are expected to show a slight weakening in the labor market — a trend that could keep the Fed on track with its rate-cutting cycle.
