Good Morning!
The US pauses strikes against Iran, and mediators intervene to broker another deal that involves the SoH. Energy markets sell off, allowing risk to rally as inflationary expectations drop. All eyes are on the next few days to see if this can be finally formalized or if this is yet another fragile verbal agreement.
Risk assets rally as capital flows back into AI, the selling momentum from deleveraging ends, and lower energy prices make inflationary worries peak for now. Looking ahead, we have US labour data this Friday, expected to be more positive than the latest print, while next Friday we get US inflation, which is expected to soften slightly despite last month's much higher prices at the pump.

META: Unfortunately, this offset some of our positive gains elsewhere after the Company missed earnings and failed to successfully articulate to investors how they expect to generate returns on its growing AI infrastructure capital spend. I closed my position ~15 mins after the market opened at $540 as guided and recorded a ~19% loss on the trade.

WIZARD’S WEEKLY MUSING

Good morning everyone, I hope you’re doing well.
As you may know, I’m currently on vacation. Still, I want to leave you all with some words to think about.
Having been in finance for 6 years now, I’ve become very familiar with the motivations of the people who come here. Every person’s motivation to join the world of finance boils down to one simple thing: Money.
Money for Family.
Money for Freedom.
Money for Fun Shit.
I became a trader for each of those. To spend more time with loved ones. To travel on a whim. To ball out on good food.
We come to finance for these ideas, yet it is ever so common to lose sight of them entirely.
I know that many of you could do some of the things you joined finance for, right now, today.
All I ask of you is that you do them.
Spend time with your loved ones instead of working.
Take a vacation, even if it’s a short getaway.
Treat yourself to something nice.
Whatever your goals may be, take a step back and think whether you’re as far away from them as you think. The number to achieve your underlying goals isn’t as big as you might think.
And if your goal is purely monetary in nature, consider thinking about what’s truly important to you.
I’ll chat with you all again soon.
