Bitcoin Breaks Records: A New All-Time High!

Good morning!
US equities and Bitcoin have hit new all-time highs and have since retreated slightly. The equity rally was largely driven by AI and semiconductors, with the AMD-OpenAI deal providing a significant boost to the sector. For crypto, we saw over $5bn of inflows into ETFs last week, with Bitcoin stealing the spotlight. On the news front, the U.S. government shutdown has been at the forefront, as potential data delays on labour and inflation could restrict the Fed from making decisions.
Looking ahead, today’s FOMC minutes may offer more insight into the Fed’s outlook on further rate cuts. On Friday, the consumer sentiment index is expected to decline to 54 from 55.1 in the previous month. Next week, U.K. unemployment is anticipated to remain steady at 4.7%, China’s deflation is projected to ease slightly, and U.S. inflation data are likely to present a mixed picture — with headline inflation rising by 0.1% and core inflation dipping 0.1% year-on-year.
